Executive Vice President – Development & Administration
Ken Thompson, joined Dimension Development in 1991 following a ten year career with Stouffer Hotels & Resorts and Doubletree Hotels. He has held positions as General Manager, Resident Manager, Corporate Training Manager and Rooms Division Director. He began his hotel career in Stouffer’s (now Renaissance) Leadership/Management Development Program and also managed that program at Stouffer’s Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC.
In 1991, we selected Ken as opening general manager for the first Homewood Suites developed in California in the City of San Jose. Following the successful opening of the hotel Ken went on to work on the development of Dimension’s Homewood Suites on the San Antonio Riverwalk. Serving as the opening GM for that hotel and Area Manager for our Texas hotels. In San Antonio he has been active in the local hotel community and served as vice president of the hotel association, vice chairperson of the convention & visitors bureau and served terms on the board of both the Texas Hotel & Motel Association and the San Antonio Tourism Council..
Beginning in 1993, he began supervising hotels as an above property manager advancing from Area Manager to Vice President of Focus Service Hotels to Executive Vice President of Hotel Operations for the company. In 2014, Ken shifted his focus to a newly created position as our EVP for Development & Administration. In this position he handles our acquisitions and has oversight for Information Technology, Insurance Programs and Human Resources. Since 2014 Dimension has added more than a thousand rooms to our managed portfolio in luxury, full service and extended stay hotel categories.
Ken earned his Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Science degrees from Alfred University and holds designations as a Certified Hotel Administrator and the Certification in Hotel Analytics from the Educational Institute of the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute.
